Connecting your POS to your management system: what actually changes
Without real sales, every food cost figure is an estimate. With the POS connected it becomes a measurement.

As long as sales data stays inside the till, your management system runs on assumptions: estimated covers, a menu mix rebuilt from memory, consumption inferred from a month-end count. Connecting the POS is not one more screen — it changes the quality of every number downstream.
Three things that unlock immediately
- Real food cost per period, because sales come from the till rather than an estimate.
- Demand forecasting trained on true history, hour by hour and day by day.
- Theoretical consumption derived from sales, comparable with the physical count to expose the gap.
Why the integration should not move stock on its own
A till item rarely maps one-to-one to an ingredient: variants, combo menus and discounts break the mapping. Sales-derived consumption should therefore be a proposal to approve, not an automatic movement — the first month is for fixing the item-to-recipe mapping.
Checks for the first week
- Daily total matches the till closing total, tax included.
- Refunds, voids and discounts present and not counted as sales.
- POS venue matches the Klyra venue, especially in multi-site groups.
- Time zones and accounting cut-off: a day ending at 3am must not roll into the next date.
What to expect after a month
With four weeks of history the forecast becomes useful for sizing shifts, and the gap between theoretical consumption and the physical count becomes your most reliable waste indicator. That is the point where the integration stops being technical plumbing and starts protecting margin.
FAQ
Do I need to change my till?
No. The integration reads from your existing POS through its own interfaces; the till keeps working exactly as before.
Is historical data imported?
Yes, when the POS exposes it: the initial backfill imports available history so forecasts are useful from day one.
